Bethel Community Garden Rules - 2014
- Each gardener is responsible for planting, maintaining, harvesting and cleaning up their garden bed. In addition, gardeners must maintain the paths adjacent to their bed.
- Gardeners who fail to maintain their garden bed risk forfeiting the use of it without refund. Maintenance includes keeping plot tidy, weed free and harvested. If you are going to be out of town and need help watering or harvesting, please make arrangements with someone to do so.
- I will pick only my own crops, unless given permission by another bed user. I will try to donate fresh produce to the North County Food Bank whenever possible.
- Trash service is not provided. All trash must be taken with you when you leave.
- Bethel Community Garden’s tools are to be used only on the premises, and cleaned before locking them in the Tool Shed. The lock combination is not to be shared with anyone.
- Driving into the garden or cemetery area is not permitted, even for loading or unloading. Motor vehicles must be parked in the parking lot.
- No pets, alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products may be brought into the garden or cemetery areas.
- Gardeners bringing children to the site must keep them under control and out of other garden beds.
- The use of pesticides, herbicides or chemicals is prohibited. See a WSU Growing Groceries Mentor if you are having pest problems.
- No plants should be grown in a place where they will shade a neighboring bed. All planting is limited to the boundaries of your own garden bed.
- All watering is to be done by hand; no sprinklers allowed. Turn water off when done watering and rewind the hose in its holder. Conserve water; don’t waste it.
- The compost pile is for all gardeners at the site. Please follow the rules posted on the Tool Shed. Take all items listed as “Never Compost” home with your trash. Compost will be used for general site maintenance.
- I understand that neither the WSU Growing Groceries Mentors nor owners or members of Bethel Lutheran Church are responsible for my actions. I THEREFORE AGREE TO HOLD THEM HARMLESS FOR ANY LIABILITY, DAMAGE, LOSS OR CLAIM THAT OCCURS IN CONNECTION WITH USE OF THE BETHEL COMMUNITY GARDEN BY ME OR ANY OF MY GUESTS.
- I will participate in the Fall cleanup of the garden and in the preparation of it in the Spring.
- Failure to follow these rules will result in losing your garden bed.
